JAMES WILSON admitted it was good to get the “winning feeling” back in the Austrian Darts Championship.

The Jammy Dodger produced a much improved run to the third round in Vienna at the weekend, eventually KO’d by eventual winner Mensur Suljovic.

But prior to then Wilson beat Gavin Carlin 6-2 and Steve Beaton 6-5 before facing the home favourite Suljovic.

He said: “It’s been a tough year with the eye problems, I feel like I’ve been chasing my form all year.

“So progress is really important and it was great to get that winning feeling back again. I’ve got a long way to go but I know I’m going in the right direction.”

It was a tough weekend for Daryl Gurney who suffered a shock second round exit to young star Rowby-John Rodriguez. Jamie Hughes also went at the first hurdle to a resurgent Luke Humphries.

Kyle McKinstry also suffered a shock defeat to Nick Kenny in the first round of the BDO World Trophy in Blackburn.
