JAMIE HUGHES SECURES WORLD MATCHPLAY SPOT AS WELL AS ENJOYING A QUARTER FINAL RUN ALONGSIDE DARYL GURNEY IN MILTON KEYNES
Daryl Gurney and Jamie Hughes produced runs to the Quarter Final in Milton Keynes today. Hughes picked up valuable ranking money which assured that he secured a spot at the World Matchplay next week.
‘Superchin’ recorded victories over Mervyn King, Nathan Derry, Devon Petersen and Robert Thornton before losing out 6-4 to Mensur Suljovic. Daryl had impressive averages of 106 and 107 on his route to the Quarters.
‘Yozza’ became victorious against Graham Usher, Gary Blades, Ryan Meikle and Jason Lowe before he was denied in a last leg decider by Rob Cross. His best performance came in the opening round against Usher where he averaged 99.5.
Trio Benito van de Pas, James Wilson and William Borland enjoyed runs to the last 32.
Benito seen off Mathew Edgar and Andy Hamilton and then he was defeated 6-1 by Nathan Aspinall.
Wilson survived numerous match darts in his opening round win against Aaron Beeney, then he averaged 100.7 in a 6-3 victory over Martin Atkins. His run was ended by Jose De Sousa, who defeated Wilson 6-4.
Youngster Borland had victories over Barrie Bates (6-0), and Scott Baker (6-4), it was Kai Fan Leung that did for Willie, losing 6-2.
